India is a place that is close to my heart. In 2010 I went on a month long expedition there, backpacking through Delhi, Udaipur, Jaiselmere, Johdpor and Leh, and it changed my life. From the silent beauty of the mountains to the buzzing busyness of the markets, India is another world. From riding Camels,
to lounging in pillow filled window seats overlooking the water at the Udaipur Lake Palace, battling the Himalayas to attending opium tea parties, the trip was an amazing insight into what is one of the worlds fastest growing economic powers, and most deep rooted traditional cultures. Just writing this is taking me back! There are just no words to describe the shopping there. The multitude of materials and goods that you can get your hands on is incredible, and for nothing! you can really haggle! I came back with numerous pairs of made to measure Ali- baba pants, a maxi dress made of the finest sari silk, a silver engraved shisha pipe, numerous buddah figurines, an array of spices, some leather bound notebooks and a very large collection of silver hand made jewlery. I was heartbroken when I lost al of the photos due to a house burglary not long after I returned - but here's a couple I managed to salvage.
